Welcome to gztracing
My name is Zoey Allen and I started my love for go-kart racing during the summer of 2021. I started racing because I wasn’t old enough to drive a car but my mom owned a Subaru WRX and I loved it so much I wanted a car of my own. Being too young to drive a car led me to the idea of go-kart racing. My mom took me to a circle dirt track to see if I would like it after trying it. I loved it! After that my mom contacted the Spokane Kart Racing Association. They invited us out to watch a race and put me in a kart to try. I went to every practice/race after that. Toward the end of the season the club got together with Midnight Motorsports to put together a kart for me to race the last 3 races of the season! I have been addicted ever since.
Here is a little bit about me and what my goals are.
I got my own go-kart for the 2022 season, I joined the local club, practiced every chance I could, and went to every race I could (including the big Saturday Night Shoot Out in Richland, WA and The Spud Cup in Boise, ID). I got a new kart September making it so I could beat my fastest times on the track. I completed the entire season and won 4th place for the club championship. My old kart will now be drove by my mom, Taya Allen, so she can help me in practice more on the track. After a lot of interest and support from many people that we’ve encountered we decided to become GZT (God, Zoey, Taya) Racing!
GZT Racing team consists of just my mom, Taya Allen, and I.
My mom has been interested in cars her whole life and graduated school for automotive technology. She is what helps my passion for racing grow. She is not only my teammate but my pit crew, my coach, my promoter, and my biggest support. This season she will be driving a kart in hopes of learning the tracks to better coach me in my races.
I have a great support with my racing. This isn’t something I can do alone. Aside from my mom’s help, my family and friends helped me get started and cheer me on also. Everyone at Spokane Kart Racing Association has continued to help me with learning my race craft, teaching me how to maintain my kart, how to fix it when it breaks, and how to adjust it for every race. Midnight Motorsports has helped me get parts and let us be with their team at the races. I joined the Spokane FastKart race league to get more seat time and have also receive even support from the owner and fellow racers there!
This year mom will be in a Gold chassis with a Briggs & Stratton LO206 engine set up for Senior class. Senior class is for ages 16+. The minimum weight for this class is 360lbs including driver and their gear.
My kart for this year is a Race Factory chassis. I will also be running a Briggs & Stratton LO206 engine but in Junior 2 class. Junior 2 class is 12-16 year olds. Minimum weight for this class is 320lbs, which includes me with my gear.
